Isou suffer third straight loss against gutsy Wigmen side

GULF Isou are yet to register a win in the Digicel ExxonMobil Cup this year following their round three 8-18 loss to Hela Wigmen yesterday at the National Football Stadium in Port Moresby.
Isou coach Roger Laka said his team no one else to blame but themselves following some poor execution that starved them of possession.
“We missed a lot of opportunities to score and that resulted in our loss. We’ll go back, work hard and come back next weekend,” Laka said following yesterday’s encountrer in Port Moresby.
Meanwhile, Wigmen head coach Seth Rip said despite the win, they needed more improvement to be consistently in the winner’s circle.
Isou opened the scoring with a clean backline try through fullback Michael Timothy with hooker Fabian Kairi failing to convert the two points to lead 4-0 in the first 20 minutes. Heavyweights Wigmen proved too good with an individual try by winger Titus Peter with hooker Woods Kawage failing to add the extras to lock the game at 4-4.
Poor defence from the Isou saw winger Siki Konden adding another four points with Kawage failing to add the two points to lead 8-4 at halftime.
The Hela boys returned in the second half sending in Peter for his second try with halfback William Mone failing to add the extras to lead 12-4.
The Laka-coached side then scored their second try through centre Jeremiah Karavo with five-eight Peter Pakali failing to convert the two points to trail 8-12 later in the second half.
Wigmen ended the match with a try from fullback Kaupa Sipa with Kawage adding the extras to seal the match 18-8.
