Isou’s slump put down to complacency

GULF Isou have not recorded a win in their last six games and coach Roger Laka believes complacency is affecting his side.
After recording four straight wins to start the Digicel Cup season and sit atop the ladder for the first time in the club’s history, Laka’s men have dropped out of the top-six with Sunday’s loss to Hela Wigmen.
The former SP Hunter said on Sunday that the limelight that his side received after round four has invited complacency into the team.
But with the competition taking a two-week break before resuming round 12 on July 23, Laka said he would use the time to prepare his team for the remaining six rounds of the regular season.
“We got off to a flying start this season and were over the moon, I guess,” Laka said.
“Complacency is a weakness and we’ve definitely fallen into that trap.
“After being in the limelight in the first four games, we were overconfident.
“This is why our performances have dropped.
“In the game against the Wigmen, I thought we put on a good contest and we almost got the win, but it just slipped through.
“But we will not give up because there are still six games to go before the finals.
“The election break gives us the perfect opportunity to go back to the basics, go back to square one and start all over again.
“We just have to fine-tune our mindset, re-adjust ourselves and take a different approach in the remaining games, and I am confident that we can bounce back.”
