THE International Training Institute (ITI) yesterday presented K3,000 to Vabukori Volleyball Association as a scholarship incentive for registered players who have applied.
When presenting the cheque, ITI managing director Senthil Kumaran Sentheyval said the sponsorship was part of their community obligation to educate people and empower youths through sports.
“A lot of youths today are unemployed, they don’t have an education,” Sentheyval said.
“We are helping in a small way by educating the unfortunate ones and also to keep youths occupied through sports.”
This is the second year ITI has supported the association after giving K10,000 worth of scholarships to four players from the association in 2018.
The four students are doing certificate programmes.
Association president Dai Vanua thanked ITI for their support, saying the association has never seen such support in its 26 years of existence.
“This is big from ITI and we are grateful for their scholarship programme and their support for volleyball,” Vanua said.
“Most of our players are village boys and girls.
“Many have missed out on education.
“But ITI has given them second chance in education and also keeping them occupied through volleyball.”
Sentheyval said the details of the scholarship packages were yet to be confirmed for next year depending on their budget.

  • This are the sort of people that has to be at the helm of a sporting group, going out looking for assistance for their members.
Well done Dai Vanua with your effort and congratulations
