JACK’S of PNG, City Pharmacy Limited Group’s retail business in fashion, yesterday announced its sponsorship of the national team for the Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
The sponsorship includes the team’s walkout apparels for the opening ceremony, competition uniforms and suitcases.
The contingent — para-athletes Morea Mararos and Nelly Leva along with coach Jackie Travetz and chef de mission Susanne Sere — is scheduled to depart for Tokyo this weekend ahead of next week’s opening ceremony.
Jack’s of PNG retail operations manager Ashish Kumar thanked the Papua New Guinea Paralympic Committee for entrusting them with the partnership.
“We value this partnership and look forward to more support and partnership in many other ways,” he said.
“In the past few weeks, we witnessed the PNG Olympic team doing a tremendous job for the country and we are proud of you all.
“With the Paralympic Games beginning next week, we are delighted to know that nothing is impossible.
“The team members themselves had witnessed a remarkable journey and each phase of this journey defines that regardless of how different a person can be.
“If there’s a goal, there’s always a way.
“In the future, we can come up with a much better sponsorship and support the Paralympic team.”
PNG Paralympic team chef de mission Susanne Sere thanked Jack’s of PNG, saying that the company’s support would help the team in their journey to Tokyo. “On behalf of the team and the Paralympic committee, I thank Jack’s of PNG for coming on board despite our request being on short notice request,” she said.
Sere acknowledged Jack’s of PNG “for giving us the opportunity through this gesture”.
The contingent will arrive in Tokyo on Sunday ahead of next Tuesday’s opening ceremony.
