Jail corrupt intending candidates as well

Letters

THE sentencing of former a
NCD election manager by the Waigani National Court to seven years in jail is applauded by many of us.
This type of corruption has been going on for quite a while undetected.
As the saying goes, doing things secretly will one day surface and here we have it.
This will surely be a warning to other election managers and officials across the country who happen to or are planning to commit similar offences who will find themselves in jail.
While jailing the former election manager is appreciated, we also wonder why the offence committed by the intending candidate was not charged?
This also could mean that in the coming election, intending candidates can get off bribing election officials while election officials will be the ones held accountable for their actions and charged if found to be involved in such offences.

Unfair decision
