A CHILDLESS married man was jailed two months with light labour for having marijuana.
Lae District Court Magistrate James Morog told David Yaling, 30, from Bulolo’s Parakris village, Morobe, that the use of marijuana had contributed a lot of crime in the society and the Government was trying its best to eradicate the drug menace.
Yaling was in custody for one week prior to his hearing.
“You have been in custody for one week, the court also learned that you are working, that means you are a tax payer of this country,” Magistrate Morog said.
“You have no prior conviction and you have admitted the offence, so the court will be lenient on you.
“Mercy comes only once.
“So go to Buimo prison and correct your mistakes and learn from it.
“That is for your own good and your health.”
On April 23 at 5.30pm, Yaling was seen drunk standing in the middle of the road when a rural patrol policing unit confronted him and arrested him for having marijuana.
