THE people of Koinambe in Lower Jimi, Jiwaka, celebrated the opening of a high school by Education Minister Joseph Yopyyopy.
The people of Koinambe had been sending their children to schools in Waghi which was far and put children in harm’s way.
Jimi MP Wake Goi on Wednesday welcomed Yopyyopy who had allocated K200,000 to the Koinambe school.
Goi who is the Minister for Community Development, Youth and Religion said the school would cater for the children of Lower Jimi. He plans to build two staff houses.
“It could have been built earlier but due to some reason with the locals, the projects was (delayed),” Goi said.
Jimi now has two high schools in Kaul and Koinambe and a secondary school in Kol.
Yopyyopy said that it was a requirement that all local level governments have high schools.
Yopyyopy said for a school to be registered, all paperwork must come to his office for approval.
“I believe in education and this school will help produce human resources for Jimi, Jiwaka and the country,” he said.
“This high school is a dream come true for the parents who have been facing so much difficulties sending their children to other schools,” he said.
