THE people of Jimi, in Jiwaka, expect tangible developments in their electorate with the election of new parliamentarian Mai Dop.
In a district were people have a reputation of voting in new MPs in every election over the past 20 years, they are reiterating the call for government services.
They said the lack of government services in Jimi was a burden on the people who now regarded their district as the least developed in the country.
A spokesman, Mong Tamb, said the people were fed up with paper politicians and wanted to see “action” and not verbal commitments.
Tamb said the people were ready to work with Dop in the hope of receiving sustainable and tangible developments.
“From the base of Mt Wilhelm in Chimbu to Late Tumbunki, the peace loving people are so anxious but have confidence and trust and overwhelming support for Dop’s election victory, and want to work with him,” he said.
He said the e Jimi people, who had lived in darkness for decades, wanted change and visionary leaders.
“Jimi is known to be a neglected electorate in the country, with little or no development but the people are not stupid and cannot be fooled,” he said.
“We want to see development and not a repetition of previous years.”
He called on former MP Wake Goi to make known publically for the sake of the people, the services he had delivered during his term.
While there is speculation that Dop’s victory will be challenged in court, Tamb called on voters to stay calm and patient as service delivery was of paramount importance.
