After two days of competition at the Jiwaka schools championships, Athletics Papua New Guinea development officer Dior Lowry was pleased with the level of interest and participation.
The competition attracted many spectators and competitors as Kupun Wisil and sprint queen Toea Wisil were also in attendance.
Some athletes were identified, especially in the throwing events.
Standout athletes and school officials will be provided with invitation letters to attend the National Sports Institute for camps in phases at a later date, Athletics PNG said in a statement.
During the phases, the athletes would be subjected to tests to evaluate their ability to learn new skills, social adaptation and capability to work in groups.
Speaking to the competitors, Lowry said: “There is an enormous amount of talent in the (Highlands) region, so keep training to improve on your talents.”
