ETHNIC and tribal clashes in Jiwaka province are increasing with many innocent lives lost and properties being destroyed recently.

Although Jiwaka was not fully qualified in some aspects to be a separate province some very committed and hardworking people sacrificed their lives for the birth of the province and with the grace of God the vision became a reality.

The province is still on its maiden voyage and bad attributes such as making homebrew, growing marijuana, crime and violent begaviour, tribal fights and disputes are overtaking the developments.

This is a very bad situation that will stop genuine investors and developers from entering the province.

If Jiwaka people want real change then they should stop violence and crime and start doing something constructive for themselves and the province.

The governor and the three local MPs have been very silent all this time. As the leaders of this new and vulnerable province, they must take the lead in addressing these critical issues.
