THE late Kato Ottio’s promise to build his mother a house could become a reality in a matter of time.
It was known when he left to join the Canberra Raiders in 2016 that he would use the money he earned from playing rugby league to buy a home for his mother, Joyce Ottio.
His promise is now being supported by his fans around the country through communication on Facebook through the PNG Hunters fan page.
Hundreds of fans are keen on fulfilling the promise.
A die-hard fan of Ottio, Michael Joe, pictured, from the Western Highlands, who works at Hugo Canning company came to The National yesterday to show his receipt for K50 deposited into Joyce Ottio’s BSP account.
“I follow rugby league and also run off-season competitions and when Kato joined Dobo Warriors in Port Moresby Rugby League I became a big fan of him,” Joe said.
“On social media, we have been talking to help fulfil his dream to buy his mother a house.
“We are discussing on how to look for his mother’s account number and then we were fortunate to get it and I made this little contribution and I believe other fans will also follow as they have got the account number already.
“The fans are talking about it and have agreed that if we all contributed K10 each we can come up with as much as K250,000-plus.
“There are many fans out there willing to contribute and the account number has been posted on Facebook.” Joe appealed to all interested fans who wish to help fulfil Ottio’s dream to contribute to BSP account 1001082560.
