Join group, council urges women

THE East New Britain (ENB) Council of Women has urged more young women to join the group to gain leadership skills from their female leaders.
It is a new approach the organisation has taken to engage young women to learn leadership qualities and confidence in public speaking and to make informed decisions in their lives.
ENB community development acting adviser Peter Tututai, told The National that the initiative came after the women representatives attended an information sharing workshop under the partnership with the United Nation Women and Community Development in Port Moresby last month.
He said the women leaders would conduct a validation for women at the ward level up before the council executive’s election, and they encouraged more young women to take part in.
“We will face challengers because some women who have been a leader and they will go against us but we will try to educate them, we need changers,” he said.
Tututai said they would be ready for the National Women’s Convention after the executives were elected.
