THE Papua New Guinea Joint Forces Academy (PNGJFA) launched its website at Igam Barracks in Lae, Morobe, on Friday.
The launch also coincided with JFA receiving its certificate of accreditation from the Department of Higher Education, Science and Technology (DHERST).
The certificate from the DHEST recognised JFA as one of the training provider in the country.
Speaking during the launch, chief instructor JFA Lt Col Donald Aisuk said that DHERST now recognised some of the courses taken at the academy in Igam.
“One of the major challenges that was identified is having the right information readily available to both staff and trainees here,’” he said.
“We have the information right here but it was not gathered and streamlined to make it readily available.”
Aisuk said while the information was there, it was all scattered and they had been struggling over the years to compile the data to make it readily available for consumers.
“When the Coronavirus (Covid-19) struck two years ago, JFA administration was forced into sourcing the best possible means to continue training programmes remotely while under lockdown.
“That was the drive that led JFA administration to start working on improving its information technology system.
According to Aisuk, the drive led the IT team to develop Google classrooms, develop the unit’s social media page and finally into developing the website.
He said the website’s creation was funded on a budget of K2,500 and it was down to the time, commitment, and team work that had seen them meet the objective with a minimal amount of funding.
“The creation of the website now would see other priority areas being improved.”
