Joseph one game away from another grand final

WAGHI Tumbe halfback David Joseph got his side to within a game of the 2021 Digicel Cup grand final but this Sunday’s preliminary final against Mendi Muruks will be another test of character against his old team.
Joseph, from Erave, Southern Highlands, made his Digicel Cup debut in 2016 with his home team the Muruks and was with them for three seasons before joining Tumbe this season.
He also had a stint with Hela Wigmen in 2019 and played in the grand final loss to the Lae Tigers.
The 25-year old started his rugby league career at Gomis Offseason League in Mt Hagen with local team Southern Sons.
Joseph is the elder brother of former SP Hunters and current Lae Tiger Jerry Teme. Both grew up in Mt Hagen and played in the Gomis League.
The brothers caught the eye of Muruks selectors during the MRDC nines tournament in early 2016 while playing for the Erave Hornbills.
Joseph joined the Muruks squad right after but Teme moved to Port Moresby to attend Iarowari High School that year and was not part of the team.
Joseph played for three seasons before he joined Wigmen in 2019. His only highlight in his career is his grand final appearance in 2019.
