Joseph praises Hunters as Capital Rugby Union preseason winds down

CAPITAL Rugby Union will complete its preseason at the Bava Park this weekend, says competition manager Paul Joseph.
Joseph praised all eight teams in the men’s premier division for recruiting well prior to the season opener in March.
Joseph singled out Valley Hunters as a force to be reckoned with this season, after they displayed some solid performances over the last two weekends.
But the Hunters lost 15-12 to the University Piggies last weekend and will look to make amends when they face the Crusaders on Sunday. With a lot of quality in their backs and forwards, and the signing of former PNG Pukpuks flyer Richard Mark, defending champions Brothers are the team to beat.
“The Brothers were forfeited last weekend and the win was awarded to Crusaders but with their last pre-season game against the Piggies on Sunday, they will aim to prove their championship status,” Joseph said.
“On Saturday, Nova will play Wanderers and Harlequins face Juggernauts.”
The end of the preseason will see all the teams competing in the Hiri Cup, which was established to acknowledge the traditional landowners of Port Moresby.
Laurabada Reds will consist of Nova and Wanderers players.
Avurigo Green will have Brothers and Crusaders players.
Lahara Yellow will consist of Harlequins and Valley Hunters players. Juggernauts and the University Piggies will make up the Mirigini Blues.
