JUGU swept Rainbow Flyers 3-0 to move into top spot in the six-team women’s A grade division of the National Capital District Volleyball Association.
The round six clash at the Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Centre on Saturday was a one-sided affair with Jugu laying the marker in the first set with a resounding 25-14 win.
The Alex Gima coached outfit have improved markedly in the second half of the competition.
Setter Jessica Wally coordinated ball distribution and hitters Matilda Peter and Sau Dandi attacked the front court fiercely to earn their side a valuable two points.
Flyers looked hesitant as Jugu stormed through the first set and this continued in the second frame when Gima’s side repeated the first set score of 25-14.
Flyers were in disarray only fleetingly showing signs of fight before being hammered into submission by a relentless Jugu who ripped a match-winning 25-12 set in the third to end their opponents’ misery.
“The girls winning the game 3-0 is a bonus for us,” Gima said.
“A strong team performance has given us the clearance to be on top of the ladder. Wally in particular improved her game with setting.”
