FRONTRUNNERS Jugu will eye another victory when they face Snipers in the men’s premier division of the National Capital District Volleyball Association competition at the Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Centre tomorrow.
“I must warn teams to be prepared and resilient against us,” Jugu coach Alex Gima said of his frontrunners.
Unbeaten Jugu have so far recorded seven straight victories.
Jugu’s attack is their strength, so Snipers will need to be on their game defensively.
Gima will be banking on setter John Soi to lead hitters Freddy Inai, Willie Sevese, Eka Solomon, Ela Gladstone and Ogi Lelesi.
He said in-form Jugu would retain a strong line-up in a bid to record their eight win against fifth-placed Snipers.
“Normally, in the first and second sets, I field a balanced team,” Gima said.
“In the third set, I field my premier men who have won all their games.”
While it’s still too early to predict how the season will unfold, Jugu have so far proven that they are the favourites for the minor premiership.
But Gima warned his men not to be complacent despite their lead at the top of their eight-team ladder.
“My players are organised and I have every confidence in them to win the game,” he said.
“They need to stick to the game plan and be disciplined because overconfidence can sometimes be a distraction.”
