K100 murder suspect held

A MAN accused of killing a 40-year-old-man with a bush knife over a K100 in Moresby North East two weeks ago was remanded by Waigani Committal Court Magistrate Tracy Ganaii on Friday.
The case was adjourned to Feb 26 for further mention.
Moses Wai, 42, from Tari in Hela, allegedly slashed Solomon Tolvita twice on the head with a bush knife at 9-Mile settlement in NCD because he had delayed payment of K100 he had borrowed from him last year.
It was alleged that Tolvita, of Kukipi in Malalaua, Gulf, borrowed the money but could not repay him because he was unemployed.
He promised to repay Wai when he returned from work in Wewak where he was recently offered employment as a truck driver by a construction company.
Wai refused to listen and demanded that he return his K100 with interest.
Wai then allegedly killed him when he saw him walking home on Jan 15. Tolvita collapsed, died instantly and Wai allegedly continued to slash his face. Police were told of the matter and arrested Wai.

  • This shows that he has no regard for any fellow human beings, and will not change even going to jail. He should be given life imprisonment or possibly a death penalty, which we have yet to implement.

  • Now that he is caught…let me remind our legal friends the psychic development going on right now in the mind of that suspect. He is already scheming escape right now! That is the Tari mentality that I have gotten used to.

  • State to implement the death penalty forthwith for such cases. Period. My tax money is not to look after willful murderers such as this person in jail. My tax money must be to look after mothers and kids in hospital, aid posts and especially rural aid posts and health centers.
Get some order in place PNG Leaders. Far Too much talking. Take action now to safe innocent lives.
Anyone who kills, must be killed. Period. Let God judge us. We must do what we have to do to promote good lives not this idiot. It is far more important for one criminal like this guy to die, then to hold the whole nation at ransom due to is evil act by this tari guy.
    Over to you Prime Minister

  • The borrower should have repaid the money long time ago. 1 year is not a bank. Borrowing money from poor people while they release their money in good fate and hope of getting it back within a week or two just for a K10 or 20 interest the borrower keeps giving lousy excuses and makes the unemployed lender in a bad situation. So here we have people with all kinds of views commenting blindly. The victim created the situation for the lender to act inhumanly. This is a lesson as PNGeans not to borrow from poor and try to give all kinds of excuses. You might be the next person to be in the same situation.

  • I think the government should impose death penalty on will full murderers and child molesters..

  • We read of the K100.00 being borrowed in good faith to be repaid with interest within a week or two. 1 year is just too long especially for an unemployed person. Normally a person/borrower goes to the lenders home with sad excuses to borrow money hence this person may have done that however failed to repay in over 52 plus weeks resulting in the situation. It is a wake up call for those who think about borrowing money from people to either start going to banks or don’t borrow at all if you won’t have that capacity to repay with interest on the agreed time.

  • Mek Kep, is there any other avenues avaible to solve this problem? Why are court system set up for? You are another short sighted person who have the same metality as this muderer.
This lousy K100.00 doesn’t warrant some one’s valueable life where money can’t buy. think outside the box before you comment

  • Seriously guys, if someone borrowed K100 from me without even paying it back (which has happened a few times) I WON’T EVEN BOTHER TO KILL HIM! Only a Psycho would do that!!

  • We have alot of highly educated and well respected Tari women and men who contribute to the development of this nation, with the likes of PMJM, this one is from the caves or a pre-historic era I guess. He doesn’t deserve a chance in the modern civilized world.
