K10,000 for snooker titles

BANK South Pacific (BSP) has once again come onboard to support the Port Moresby snooker titles with a handy K10,000 sponsorship for the hosting of the event during the Easter weekend.
The five-day tournament will cue off on April 1 followed by the finals on  April 5.
The event has attracted 48 participants who will be competing in the championships.
Port Moresby Billiards and Snooker Association president Roger Wilson thanked BSP for the sponsorship for this year’s BSP Open championships for the eighth consecutive year.
Nominations are now open for participants willing to compete in the event.
The meet is also open to women in other provinces.
It is in conjunction with PNG Snooker Billiards and Snooker Association’s interest to promoting the code in the provinces with a possibility of including the sport in the PNG Games charter for the 2012 PNG Games in Kokopo, East New Britain province.
Wilson said a registration fee of K150 should be paid before the due date set for April 1.
BSP’s sponsorship will cover prize monies and the programme for the event. BSP will also be providing their corporate green shirts for participants to wear during the event.
Top female players Geua John and Damita Bray are expected to compete in the championship.
BSP’s head of marketing John Solok said PNG’s leading bank was once again proud to be major sponsors of the event – Port Moresby championship for eight consecutive years.
