K100,000 on offer in WHP governor’s Cup

THE 2010 Western Highlands governor’s cup rugby league challenge will kick off at the Kagamuga showground in Mt Hagen on Sunday.
Executive chairman and former The National journalist Nikints Tiptip said yesterday that K100,000 in cash prizes for wining teams and trophies were on offer.
Tiptip said the competition was sponsored by the Western Highlands Development Corporation under the leadership of Governor Tom Olga.
He said three new leagues which would be in the competition were Fatima, Kurumul and Kagamuga while Nondugl had be exepted from participating this year.
He added that other teams would not be accepted unless affiliated with the nearest leagues.
Tiptip said all teams should pay their K300 affiliation fees to the BSP Mt Hagen branch.
He said they should deposit the money into account name Western Highlands governor’s cup Acc#1001653914 with all receipts forwarded to the treasurer Michael Bengi.
He said the aim of the competition was to develop young players expose their talents and was expecting the competition this year to be bigger and better.
Tiptip added that the deadline for the affiliation fees is tomorrow.
He said teams should  be registered with the PNG Rugby Football League to be eligible to participate in the competition.
Meanwhile, last year’s premiers, Kondo East, will be travelling to the Gold Coast in February to play the Gold Coast Titans.
