A LOCAL construction company in Wabag will soon complete the upgrading of the 18km Lam to Laiagiam road in Enga.
Managing director of Pele Civil Construction Limited, Francis Lakapai yesterday said he was confident that the road sealing would be completed soon with the help of a new screen and crusher machine which arrived from Australia.
The screen and crusher machine was transported into Wabag last Friday after completing a 7.5 km stretch from Lai to Minamb Bridge in Wapanemanda.
Lakapai said his company bought the machine in Australia for K1.5 million as he believed in quality work.
He said he also bought another  crusher worth K900,000 from Australia which was transported to Mt Hagen yesterday.
“The company would use this for a sealing job contracted by the Department of Works.”
Lakapai confirmed that he signed a K10m contract with the Department of Works for the sealing of a section of the Highlands Highway between Jiwaka and Western Highlands.
“We are now mobilising workmen and machines to start the road works.”
