K150mil good enough reason to be honest

PUBLIC Servants must be faithful in their responsibilities because altogether they are paid K150 million a fortnight by the people, says Deputy Prime Minister Charles Abel.
Abel was speaking at the public service dedication service hosted by the Department for Community Development and Religion in Port Moresby on Friday.
He called on public servants to truly commit themselves to executing the K14.7 billion 2018 national Budget.
Abel, who is also Treasurer, said the country needed to become more cost-conscious and revenue-focused.
“We need to develop more of a commercial mindset in the public service,” he said. “Government has commitments to our people, we have commitments to you public servants, such as your pay awards and housing programme. We need to deliver the budget to make these things happen, whether it is getting Wafi-Golpu over the line, delivering the much needed payroll reform or restructuring our debt.
He said public servants should be honest and faithful in their work.
