K17.6mil cut for CS

CORRECTIONAL Services commissioner Stephen Pokanis says they will maintain their operations throughout all prisons despite the cut in the Budget.
Pokanis told The National that the K17.6 million cut from their allocation in the Supplementary Budget tabled in Parliament last Friday would affect them.
“We had a meeting yesterday to review our budget and reprioritise tasks and we will do our best to work within the limited budget we have to the end of the financial year,” he said.
“Any shortfall that we identify will be flagged to the Treasury Department to seek their approval for additional budget support to run the department until the end of the year.”
Pokanis said they would continue to review their operations and take coast cutting measures.
