THE Kikori development authority has allocated K1 million for the construction of communication towers for the Kapuna and Ihu stations in Gulf.
MP Soroi Eoe said the towers would “boost the communication signal for the area enabling better communication for the administration, service providers, businesses and the community at large”.
“This is a vital infrastructure providing income generating options for the district administration,” he said.
The tower will be owned by the district authority.
Eoe also said K500,000 from the Covid-19 stimulus support funds had been allocated to support small-to-medium enterprises.
“Recognising MSME men and women as an integral part of change in developing communities is important.”
Eoe said the funds would help new and struggling businesses.
He will also announce the allocation of K1 million support, under the Covid-19 stimulus support, for agriculture and fisheries projects.
“Part of this funding will be put towards agriculture extension work,” he said.
“A board decision includes a criterion for farmers and fishermen, all interested are encouraged to submit their project proposals for funding various agriculture and fisheries projects.”
