NATIONAL Capital District (NCD) commissioner Elice Siki has pledged K30,000 for the Morata Offseason Rugby League women’s competition.
The funding is separate from the National Capital District Commission’s allocation of K25,000 for the 2020-21 season.
Siki said at the Kone Tigers Oval on Saturday that she was committing K10,000 and K20,000 for the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons respectively.
She said the women’s division of the NCD Governor’s Cup was a platform for players to showcase their talents.
Siki said this was in line with NCD Governor Powes Parkop’s initiative to promote and develop women’s rugby league in the nation’s capital.
“I thank Parkop for this great initiative to recognise women’s rugby league in NCD as a step in the right direction to encourage women and girls to participate in sports,” she said.
