 THE Morobe Mining Joint Venture (MMJV) community investments during this financial year, was worth K4.61 million in the MMJV operational area.

MMJV has invested more than K20 million in community programmes and projects at its projects impact areas, since 2010.  

According to its newsletter recently released, the areas of investment include health; water supply and sanitation; education; agriculture / aquaculture; community infrastructure – foot bridges and community halls; community and LLG capacity building programmes; and Lae to Bulolo Highway maintenance. 

MMJV has assisted 971 cocoa farmers in eight communities to plant 197ha of cocoa which would be worth K5.4 million annually by next year.

From last July to this June, its economic benefits to PNG totalled more than K680 million and K63.87 million in tax and levies to the government.
