K500,000 in hospital equipment donated

NONGA Provincial Hospital in East New Britain received medical equipment worth K500,000 for its emergency department last week. The equipment was donated by the Kumul Petroleum Foundation (KPF) which is a subsidiary of Kumul Petroleum Holdings (KPH) Ltd. KPF chief executive officer William Bando arrived with his team from Port Moresby on Tuesday to hand over the equipment to the hospital’s administration. The equipment was presented to East New Britain deputy administrator and ENB health authority (PHA) deputy board chairman Levi Mano and PHA chief executive Dr Ako Yap. Bando said KPH was committed to supporting the Government deliver life-saving medical equipment to hospitals in PNG as part of its obligation to the health and well-being for Papua New Guineans. He said the donated medical equipment comprised of a defibrillator, electrocardiograph, ECG cardiograph, ultrasound system and bedside monitors and ventilators with accessories. Bando said as a result of the donation, all four provinces in the New Guinea Islands, including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, would benefit from the life-saving emergency equipment. Bando also said Kumul Petroleum, as part of its corporate social responsibility, was pleased to support ongoing efforts to combat and contain the threat of the Covid-19 in PNG.
