K700 fine for stealing

 A YOUNG man who stole a laptop and a Blackberry mobile phone from another man was last Friday ordered by the Lae district court to pay a K700 fine for breaking the law or be put behind bars.

The court ordered Robin Francis to pay the fine after finding him guilty of stealing the property from a Gabi Loto last week.

The court heard that at the Lae Snack Bar service station, Francis stole the properties from the complainant, who had parked his vehicle at the location.

He was spotted by members of the public who chased him towards the fire station where they caught him.

Only the laptop was recovered and returned to the owner.
