THE United States (US), through the United States Agency for International Development (USAid), will fund development activities throughout Papua New Guinea worth US$20 million (about K71 million).
Department of National Planning and Monitoring secretary Koney Samuel signed the implementation letter on behalf of the Government with USAid acting senior development adviser Clay Epperson.
Epperson thanked Samuel for his partnership with USAid and the US governments development initiatives.
“USAid would like to convey our deepest appreciation of your leadership support to our development cooperation,” he said.
“We look forward to deepening our partnership in health, energy, and other areas.”
Samuel and Epperson also discussed the ongoing projects in PNG through USAid funding, and reflected on the increased partnership between PNG and the United States.
“We appreciate and thank the US government for its support,” Samuel said.
“PNG’s Medium-term Development Plan IV sets out the Government’s priorities for the next five years.
“We value the contributions our development partners bring to complement our efforts under this plan.”
The funding will support HIV-AIDS services for key populations in the country.
