Kaintiba behind with development

Letters

THE National Planning and Monitoring Department in the 2019 budget allocated K5 million for feasibility studies and scoping of the Morobe-Gulf highway but no work has been done yet.
Kaintiba, situated along the border is an example with no government services reaching the people.
Feasibility study and scoping work for the road was done in 2004 funded by the Coffee Industry Corporation (CIC) to help them transport their produces but no construction work had been done.
We want action.
We are way back with other districts in terms of basic services.
I thank Prime Minister James Marape for his surprise visit to Kaintiba last month with Gulf Governor Chris Haiveta who promised to build road.
PM told us he would link us with other districts by road and we are happy with that.
We have been without proper services for last 40-50 years.
Our cash crops such as coffee, vanilla and garden produce are in surplus but we don’t have a road to transport them to the market and earn money.
The PM promised us that by September, machineries will be moved in to start work on the road and we are happy and looking forward to that.
The PM saw for himself how they were living and appreciate his visit.
We have registered a company Dauyas Contractors Services and are looking forward to help the government to build the road.
We are ready to help in our little ways.
Morobe Governor Ginson Saonu also allocated K1 million towards the highway in 2019.
