Kaintiba needs police presence

Letters

IT is time a permanent police personnel is stationed at the Kaintiba police station.
We have a full-time police station commander in the area but he is serving in Kerema and the people are on their own with police reservists taking over law and order responsibilities.
We have 15 reservists at Kaintiba who represent the 15 villages and help magistrates to solve issues.
The policeman who was assigned to command the station at Kaintiba is in Kerema.
Law and order issues will be controlled with the presence of permanent officers and not reservists who are not properly trained to carry out police duties.
We have issues of police brutality by the reservists and we want someone with better understanding of policing to come and settle down, command and control these reservists.

Kaintiba is in a remote location, and without police presence, people are doing anything and everything they wish to, knowing that the law is not close to catch up on them.
