Kalinoe backs govt’s decision

 OUTGOING managing director and chief executive officer of Petromin, Joshua Kalinoe, supports the government’s decision to rationalise the state’s mining and petroleum assets. 

Kalinoe, who has been the founding MD, recently resigned from Petromin due to personal reasons. 

Kalinoe said his resignation was not related to the government’s decision to restructure Petromin as a result of the rationalisation exercise.

“I want to put on record and correct any media speculation that my resignation is related to the restructure,” he said.

“To the contrary, I resigned on personal grounds. 

“I, in fact, wholeheartedly support the decision of the government. 

“I believe it is in the best interest of the nation and I urge the staff and board of Petromin to positively support the decision and work with the government to implement it.”

Kalinoe urged the board and management of Petromin to accept the decision as a transformation of the company from its current position to the next level.

He said that in any commercial settings, acquisition, mergers and restructuring of organisations were common commercial practices.

Kalinoe urged staff and management of Petromin to work with the relevant state agencies to fully implement the decision.

Kalinoe has every confidence in the acting MD, Arun Basu, to manage the company in the transitional period and urged management and staff of Petromin to support him in implementing the government’s decision.
