WITH the country’s new Coronavirus measures in place, many activities have been affected and an official is calling on the Government to clarify the restrictions, especially on sports.
Morobe Rugby Union president Lionel Kamiak said they had to cancel their games on Saturday after a circular from the provincial administrator on the new measures.
“They must at least tell us the exact measures on different sports,” he said.
“Our season has been affected badly because of the pandemic and other external factors affecting our schedule. Just as we are trying to complete our pre-season sevens games, we have been hit by the restrictions.
“This is for our good but we want at least some measures that can keep the games going.”
Kamiak said in the event that games were cancelled, many of his players would have nothing to do and may resort to illegal activities which would contribute to law and order issues in the society.
He said the restrictions would have an impact on youths.
Kamiak said they had been running pre-season sevens competition for three weekends and the final one was cancelled due to the new measures.
