Kanea takes on Penny

 KICKBOXER Max Kanea takes on Queenslander Tony Penny today in Brisbane and has vowed to make an impression in his Australian debut.

The Mendi-raised Bougainvillean was given a timely boost by local company Haren Travel Services with a K1000 sponsorship for the man known as “black thunder”.

A grateful Kanea said he had been waiting for his opportunity and would not waste it.

Haren managing director Kol Toki said his company was honoured to back Kanea, who had the potential to be a successful fighter.

“All athletes need backing,” Toki said. “He will not only be fighting for himself but for the country and Southern Highlands.”
