Karate gets nod for PNG Games

THE PNG Karate Federation is delighted karate has been admitted as an optional sports in the PNG Games in East New Britain in November.
Federation president Carl Mari urged karate clubs to prepare for the games.
He asked all clubs to contact their respective provincial sports offices to be included in their provincial squads.
Mari said all clubs in Morobe should contact Rickinson Mekere on phone 7252 4841, Madang clubs should contact Andrew Tukiki on phone 7602 2015, and clubs in Central should contact vice-president Roy Stanley on phone 7298 7468.
Any association that wishes to get details can contact the executives: president Carl Mari on phone 7675 7777, vice-president Roy Stanley on phone 7298 7468 and secretary Joe Konaka on phone 7691 3327.
Mari thanked the East New Britain Games committee and the national sports foundation for including karate as an optional sport in November.
“It will not only give opportunities to our grassroots to take part in karate but will give us an opportunity to scout for candidates for other regional and international competitions, including the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby,” he said.
