Keep an eye on your children, parents told

NATIONAL Capital District Governor Powes Parkop is appealing to parents to take responsibility for their children’s safety during the lockdown.
Parkop said as it was discussed during their taskforce meeting this week that there could be two sides to leaving schools open and closing them.
“If kids attend school, they could carry the virus around,” he said.
“ But, on the other hand, if they stay home without the attention of parents or guardians, they could contract the virus in the streets, thus schools do follow protocols.”
Speaking on a talkback show yesterday, Parkop, who is also the chairman of the capital’s taskforce, said students not in school were at risk and parents should take full responsibility.
He also called on all the governors to take heed of the upgraded strategies laid out by the NCD Covid-19 taskforce on Wednesday. He said it was vital for all to follow the protocols to contain and eliminate the spread of the coronavirus across the country.
Parkop urged people to work together to fight the spread.
“The virus is here,” he said.
“We must accept and come to terms (with it).
“The faster we respond, (the faster) we can reduce and eliminate its infection and transmission.”
