Kent rakes up EAP U19 awards

VICTORIOUS PNG under 19 captain Chris Kent was rewarded for his outstanding performance at the ICC East-Asia Pacific Under 19 Cricket Trophy by picking up both the player of the tournament award and being named captain of the EAP team.
Kent finished the tournament with a batting average of 51.00 and overall bowling figures of 5-51 at an average of 10.20.
PNG will be hoping he can continue this form when both PNG and Vanuatu represent the East-Asia Pacific region at the Under 19 World Cup qualifying tournament in Ireland later in the year.
“It is a great honour to win these awards and I am looking forward to travelling with the boys from Vanuatu to try and qualify for the World Cup,” Kent said.
Kendy Kenneth (Van) won the batting award for most runs scored in the tournament with 110 at an average of 36.67 and his fellow compatriot Jaxies Samuel picked up the bowling award with 12 wickets for just 66 runs at an average of 5.50 including best figures of 6-3.
