Kickboxer Kanea to fight Ben in Buin

THE Buin constituency of the Autonomous Region of Bougainville will host a community kicking boxing tournament on July 20 which is expected to attract fighters from the Solomon Islands.
Kickboxer Maxie “The Black Panther” Kanea will fight Solomon Islander Tony Ben in the main bout in the 75kg division.
Kanea, who is also a member of the event organising committee, said the Buin constituency under the South Bougainville electorate will sponsor the event.
He said it would be his first time to represent his own people in the July fight against Ben, who is a Tongan but brought up in Honiara.
“The Under Cuts will feature local fighters from Buin and the surroundings and the main bout will be between me and Ben,” Kanea said.
The Kanea-Ben fight was a professional bout with the winner to be paid a purse of K15,000.
Kanea said all the fighters on the show brought receive payment.
Kanea said he spent 28 years in Southern Highlands and it would be his first time to travel to Bougainville.
