THE PNG Association of Professionals has welcomed the decision by PNG and Australia to reintroduce a component of the Enhanced Corporation Programme.

But association chairman Watt Kiddie said the assistance must be spread throughout the country to assist police officers everywhere.

He said the country needed the help of others such as the Australian Federal Police to tackle the deteriorating law and order situation and morale in the constabulary.

He said the ECP, however, must be spread throughout the country to assist police officers.

“Trying to engage retired police officers to assist in training and focus on the administration and management will never address the underlying law and order issues in the country, given that our policemen and women have compromised their constitutional duties to protect properties and lives,” he said.

Kiddie, a businessman and principal of the accounting firm Kiddie and Associates’ said it was in the best interest of the nation to address law and order first before tackling any other issues.

“I do not feel I’m a citizen of this country and I live in fear like all citizens.

“Mothers and girls cannot walk freely and these are issues of great concern.

“Therefore the PNGAP thinks the ECP should ,be reintroduced to work with our police men and women to instill discipline and pride as they have all ready compromised themselves,” Kiddie said.

He said the young generation needed a peaceful and secure environment to grow up in and the government must provide them that.
