Kimbe Cutters back forward Worot to make Hunters squad

KIMBE Cutters are proud of their forward Tony Worot for making progress in the SP Hunters pre-season training, says an official.
Cutters chairman Freddie Kumai told The National on Wednesday that they were hoping to see Worot become the second Cutters player behind Benji Kot to make the Hunters final squad.
“Worot’s selection into the Hunters pre-season squad was expected,” he said.
“It wasn’t a surprise to the Cutters coaching staff and management.
“We knew his potential.
“We had envisioned great things before he debuted for the Cutters.
“We are proud that Worot is a product of Kimbe Rugby League.
“He was brought up here.
“Kot was the first Cutters player to make the Hunters and we are hoping that Worot would make the final 26-man squad for next season in the Hostplus Cup (formerly Queensland Intrust Super Cup).
“We received some positive feedback from Hunters coach Matthew Church.
“Church said last week that Worot and Waghi Tumbe’s Francis Kembis were setting the pace at training.
“That’s positive news for the Cutters.”
Kumai said Worot, from Nangananga, East New Britain, could match front-rowers in the Hostplus Cup and National Rugby League.
“He meets that criteria of forwards in the top-tier competitions,” he said.
“I won’t be surprised if he makes the final squad and continue his rugby league career in a tougher competition abroad.
“Worot has what it takes to get there. He only has to identify his potential and continue to work hard.”
