Mountain M Dragons (MMD) received a set of jerseys and sporting gear yesterday which will boost the team’s morale in the upcoming Kimil Rugby Football League season.
The items were presented to the players by local elite Simon Kom at the team’s training venue at Waghi Valley Secondary School. Kom told the players to train and play hard to find their true potential in rugby league.
“Rugby league is one area where you can excel in life,” he said.
“We, the educated elites, are at your back and want to see change in our Bung One community.
“Sometimes we cop blame for the wrong reasons but rugby league is an opportunity for us to prove doubters wrong.”
He gave the team K100 while fellow elite Felix Kints pledged the team K1,000.
Kints encouraged the players, mostly boys from the Bunum Wo area, to discipline themselves.
Senior players thanked the elites for the support and assured them that they would give their best on and off the field.
Dragons thanked the league executives and president Michael Tee Pau for allowing the team to become an affiliate of the competition.
