Kina Securities Limited has announced the retirement of managing director Syd Yates after 20 years of service.
Yates, of Kina Group of Companies, retired on last Tuesday.
Kina chairman Isikeli Taureka thanked Yates for his services to Kina and the PNG financial sector.
Taureka said Yates’ standout achievements included the successful initial public offering of Kina on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) and the Port Moresby Stock Exchange (POMSoX) in 2015 and the acquisition of Maybank PNG by Kina the same year.
Kina is PNG’s first financial institution to be listed on the ASX.
Yates’ contribution to the community, particularly in sports administration, is worth noting, Taureka said.
He represented PNG on several Olympic Games Committees. Kina announced in June last year the appointment as chief executive of Greg Pawson, the former regional head of Westpac South Asia and Pacific.
Before Pawson’s appointment, Yates was both chief executive and managing director.
