STUDENTS attending the Pikinini Library Early Childhood Learning Centre in Chimbu are adapting to new habits of hand-washing and social distancing, says school coordinator Rose Kum.
Kum said the school had strategised and scheduled an hour every school day for practical health lessons and preventive awareness on the Covid-19.
Since the resumption of school last week, students have effectively practised the “new normal”.
Kum said when students arrived this week to school, they started on the initiative to line up at the tap to prepare to wash their hands before going into class without any teacher’s supervision and that was impressive.
She said it was important to do that with children every day so they eventually became better and responsible for their own health when growing.
“As per the directive from the Education Department, we have strategised and set in place preventive and control measures in the school,” Kum said.
“And I am pleased seeing students ranging from 11-year-olds to five-year-olds adjusting well to the new normal practice.”
