NATIONAL Capital District Commission city manager Bernard Kipit says inspections of suburbs in Port Moresby helps to educate the public in the commission’s rules and regulations.
Kipit said NCDC’s regulations in health and hygiene, physical planning, building board and good living standard helped lift living standards.
“These laws are regulated under NCDC and we want people to come and seek proper advice at our office before going ahead with their business,” Kipit said.
“Some of these laws have requirements like they cannot allow a resident to look after more than one pig, dog, cat, or chicken at their home.”
Kipit said some prohibited them from selling cooked foods in public places.
He said the commission was still talking with the traffic authority to see whether NCDC could become a private operator or regulator of public transport in the city.
Kipit said there were mutual understanding between the transport authority and NCDC hopefully they would come up with a decision after a couple of months.
He said the Apec buses given to National Capital District Commission for public transport had been held back by the Government.
Kipit said the buses were suitable for cities like Lae and Port Moresby.
