Kokopo set to unveil arts fest satellite event

 THE second regional satellite launching for the fifth Melanesian Festival of Arts and Culture is set for this week in Kokopo for the islands region.

The launching was initially planned to go off at the weekend but failed due to some administrative matters on the part of the East New Britain provincial government and other stakeholders.

The National Cultural Commission said the first launching was done in Mt Hagen last month for the Highlands region.

PNG is hosting the fifth Melanesian Festival of Arts and Culture with the theme: “Celebrating Cultural Diversity” after the festival was initiated in 1998 and was first hosted by the Solomon Islands then Vanuatu in 2002, Fiji in 2006 and New Caledonia in 2010.
