KONDO East defeated Nondogul 12-0 in the second round of the Western Highlands Governor’s Cup challenge at Kondopina rugby league ground on Sunday.
The game was tough but Kondo East took advantage of the home crowd support to thrash the visitors.
Easts hooker William Onda and half back Michael Malt managed to defend their territory well depriving their opponents, the Nondugls from crossing their tryline.
However, it was in the 7th minute when Kondo East hooker Onda  picked up a drop ball from 10m inside Nondugls’ territory to score an unconverted try to lead 4-0.
The try motivated the home-side which kept on firing resulting in a try to  Malt who picked up a loose ball 5m from the Nondugl tryline to score another unconverted try to extend their lead 8-0 till the break.
It was then the brilliance of halfback Titus Dirua who kicked a grubber that saw Malt touching down for a brilliant try.
Nondugl put up a defensive line to deny their opponents from gaining further territory with prop Kapal Ape, hooker Mugul Korroi, winger Kos Ngamb and centre Sam Kupul Manbge.
