Korake eyes Port Vila bout

BOXER John Korake is set to fight in a June 29 show in Port Moresby promoted by Queensland-based Universal Promotions.
The Indo-Pacific Boxing Association light heayweight (79kg) titlist said he would use next month’s show as a lead-up to a title fight organised by promoter Leca Reginald in Port Vila, Vanuatu, on July 27.
“We are still orgainsing the Port Moresby show and we’ll have details on the venue and who will be on the card but all I can say for now is that I will be fighting at light heavyweight or 79kg and using next month’s show to get ready for the big one in Port Vila,” Korake said.
The Bougainvillean man, who won the IPBA title with a ninth-round knock out of Pakistani Ezatullah Kakar last December, said he was hoping to attract sponsors to help him prepare for the two shows.
“I’m appealing to businesses houses or anyone in the corporate community who is interested in supporting me prepare for the two shows, especially the title fight in Port Vila.”
Korake said he needed funding to purchase boxing equipment and apparel, first aid and medical supplies, logistical and incidental costs incuured from his training camp.
