Kramer asks PM to release acquittals

POLICE Minister Bryan Kramer says he has asked Prime Minister James Marape to release bank statements and acquittals of Covid-19 funds expended to date.
The Madang MP posted on Facebook on Wednesday amidst concerns raised by Opposition Leader Belden Namah of the use of Covid-19 funds during the state of emergency (SOE).
Namah made reference to a television interview by Treasurer Ian Ling-Stuckey.
Kramer maintained that any claim by critics that members of the Government had “collectively committed official corruption” was “baseless and defamatory.”
“Namah is alleging that we collectively committed official corruption in the misuse of SOE Covid-19 funds,” he said.
“I can categorically deny the allegations as baseless, highly malicious, defamatory and unlawful.
“I hope for his sake, he has the evidence to sustain his allegations against me.
“As I confirmed in my publication last week, all SOE funds are parked in the Department of Health trust account – an account I have no authority over or access to.
“I met with the prime minister and raised the issue of baseless allegations concerning the misuse of Covid 19 funds.
“I proposed he should just release the bank statements and acquittals expended to date – which he agreed to.”
Kramer said Namah had made a statement without evidence to support it.

  • We all know the PAC inquiry into the NDoH that is on foot on their use of public funds. C19 Trust Fund with NDoH would beg some suspicion and concern based on their track record.

With this C19 pandemic preparations to prevent its spread in this country should an outbreak or transmission occur I’d like to trust that all those monies would be used for the purposes intended for.

  • Money parked into an account held by one of highly corrupt Govt Dept – NDoH? It means we will set up another Commission of Inquiry (costing time and money) to know how the money was spent??
When are we going to do the right thing?

  • Put it into a Trust Account held by some professional international firm like Deloitte.
