Kramer’s appeal adjourned to Friday

THE National Court is expected to hear an appeal by dismissed Madang MP Bryan Kramer this week, to review the leadership tribunal’s recommendation for his dismissal.
Kramer’s urgent application was presented by his lawyer Nema Yalo before Deputy Chief Justice Ambeng Kandakasi in Waigani on Friday.
Kandakasi said the relief sought was to review two decisions, which could have been one.
He told Yalo to consult Kramer and rework the appeal, and come back on Friday for a hearing.
Kramer had sought leave to review the Ombudsman Commission’s decision on Dec 20, 2021, which refused Kramer’s request to provide documentary evidence, denying his right to a fair hearing.
Kramer further sought leave to review the tribunal’s decision on Feb 28, that found him guilty of seven of the 14 allegations against him, and the tribunal’s decision on penalty made on May 1, recommending his dismissal.
Another reason for adjourning Kramer’s application was because it was served late to the State.
Kramer was dismissed from office on May 24, through a letter by the Governor-General following the leadership tribunal’s recommendation.
The leadership tribunal, comprising Judge Lawrence Kangwia, Magistrate Josephine Nidue and Magistrate Edward Komia, found Kramer guilty of seven of the 14 allegations against him.
Following the guilty verdict, the tribunal ordered Kramer’s dismissal from office and a fine of K10,000.
