THE Port Moresby Racquets Club, rebranded after the 2015 Pacific Games, is now the home of the tennis and squash federations.
President Tim Kriebisch clarified that to avoid confusion over the club’s purpose.
“The main focus for the Pom Racquets Club now is the arena for junior development in both tennis and squash,” Kriebisch said.
“This year, both tennis and squash hosted a few tournaments for juniors and activities for adults.
“What I am trying to say is that Pom Racquets Club is the new name of Pom Tennis Club after the 2015 Pacific Games.
“Many people think that this is a tennis club.
“We are not only a tennis club, we also have the squash federation using the vicinity.
“Thus, the Pom Racquets club is also the home of squash.”
Kriebisch said all the programmes for both federations would conclude next month and resume in February next year.
“It is good to see two Papua New Guineans looking after tennis and squash,” he said.
“PNG star Madako Suari Jr looks after squash while Eddie Mera looks after tennis.”
Suari and Mera are tasked with developing players between the ages of six and 18 in both tennis and squash.
